The New Hope Camp and Conference Center Experience

Summer camp at New Hope Camp and Conference Center is a good time for campers and adults to become more aware of God’s world and their part in protecting and caring for it. As we live together and learn together, we will be exploring our relationships with the earth and with each other. Campers will gain a better understanding of respect as they share, grow and learn with one another. Building a community where everyone belongs and is treated as a child of God will be an important part of each week at New Hope Camp and Conference Center. Join us this summer for an unforgettable time of learning and playing together.

Because of our location, we are able to offer programs for day camp drawing upon community resources for sports, art, music, and natural or environmental sciences. We are able to provide ideal camping programs for first time and young participants as well as exciting specialty programs for older, more experienced campers.

The Staff

The entire staff recognizes our responsibility when you choose New Hope Camp and Conference Center for your child’s summer activity. Our summer staff is typically comprised of college students or graduates from area universities. Appropriate role models and a desire to lead young people are two factors we seek in applicants. All applicants go through an extensive screening process, including interviews, to help us assemble a quality, well-rounded summer staff. All counselors, program and support staff are trained in first aid and CPR to provide your child with a fun and safe summer.

Camper Behavior Expectations

Campers are expected to participate cooperatively with their counselors and other campers in the daily activities and duties of the group. Campers are expected to respect each other, staff members, camp, and personal property. Attending camp is a privilege made possible by parents, churches and organizations that want to share God’s love with young people.

Discounts

•  For “Early Bird” registration prior to April 1, 2007, deduct $5 for each week of Camp.

•  Members of New Hope Camp and Conference Center, Inc. supporting churches (Church of Reconciliation, Hawfield’s Presbyterian Church, Hillsborough Presbyterian Church, New Hope Presbyterian Church, University Presbyterian Church and Westminster Presbyterian Church) may deduct $5 for each week of Camp. The name of your church must be listed on the registration form.

•  If eligible for discounts, you must request the discount on your registration form at the time of registration.

Cancellation and Refunds:  There is no refund if you change weeks of registration less than 4 weeks prior to the start of the camp week you are initially registered for. Changing the week of registration is, in effect, canceling one week and re-registering for another.

Send registration form to:  New Hope CCC Registrar, 4805 Highway 86, Chapel Hill, NC 27514. Confirmation of your registration will be sent to you by mail. Our registration deadline is the Tuesday before the start of the camp week you would like to be a part of. If a registration is received after Tuesday for the next week of camp, we cannot guarantee that the registration will be processed in time or that there will be space available in the camp.

Health Insurance: Campers are expected to have their own health insurance coverage. Insurance policy number and phone number must be furnished on the health form. Secondary accident insurance is provided by New Hope Camp and Conference Center, Inc.

Registration Procedures

New Hope Camp and Conference Center programs are open to everyone without regard to religion, race, age, sex, or national origin. Applicants are accepted on a first come, first serve basis. The registration deadline is the Tuesday before the week of camp you would like to register for. If a registration is received after the Tuesday before the start of the camp week, we cannot guarantee that the registration will be processed in time or that space will be available in the session you would like to register for. We do fill up early!

Registration and fees:  Select the camp you wish to attend, print out and complete the Registration form and Health form (and info sheet for Camp Rangers), and mail to the New Hope CCC registrar with $75.00 non refundable deposit or TOTAL CAMP FEE for each session of camp.  Make checks payable to “New Hope Camp and Conference Center.”  Please indicate camper’s name and camp code on the check. Registration arriving without an enclosed deposit or total camp fee cannot be processed. Payment may be made by check or credit card. A camper’s registration will not be processed without a completed health form.

All fees must be paid IN FULL two weeks before camp begins.  Post-billing is not an option. All forms must be completely filled out and signed. In the event of insufficient registrations, we reserve the right to cancel a specific camp.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my child need spending money?
No—there is nothing to buy during the week at camp. All snacks and treats are provided. T-shirts may be pre-purchased as indicated on the registration form.

A week at camp seems expensive.  Is financial assistance available?
A quality program including outstanding staff costs money. Some churches in the New Hope Presbytery offer financial assistance to campers. Check with your local church pastor or session if financial assistance is needed. Grandparents are often glad to help with the cost of a week at camp.

Can my child call home?
Calling home is discouraged. If a child is homesick, not participating with the group, disrupting the camp or causing other problems, the camp director will call the parents to discuss options.

If my child is injured or ill, how will I be notified?
The camp director will contact you by phone if any first aid incident occurs requiring more than a band-aid.

Can our family use the pool at New Hope Camp and Conference Center?
Yes!  New Hope CCC sells pool passes and memberships to those wishing to use the pool. Please contact the NHCCC office for more information at 942–4716.

Can I pick my child up early or drop my child off late to camp during the week?
This is discouraged. The camp program day is from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Campers who come late or leave early miss out on important group building time and will not get the full benefits of our day camping program. We understand that occasionally campers have appointments that must be attended to during the day but we encourage all parents to keep late drop off and early pick up to a minimum.
