School Groups at NHCCC

Welcome to New Hope Camp and Conference Center!

This camp and conference center is the perfect place for your day or overnight school field trip. Let us provide all of the planning materials you need.

Our large back field and covered pavilion area serve for your group's home base throughout the trip. It has a kitchen so students can help prepare their own meals and cook them over the fire in the advacent fire circle. Most school groups stay in our rustic bunkhouses overnight. These cabins hold 22-26 people and are just the accommodations to complete the camp experience. Our site offers two ponds great for studying the water cycle and water ecosystems. Students can have a blast expolring on the trail system, collecting frogs, tracking deer and other native animals, and getting some hand on time with science and nature. As night falls, enjoy a campfire with s'mores, songs and storytelling. Use the time before bed for a live astronomy lesson and stargazing.

Below you will find information to help you plan your field trip to New Hope Camp. If you have other questions please call our office at 942-4716. We book a year in advance so please call to reserve your spot early! See you 'round the campfire!

The Site

NHCCC is located on Hwy. 86 between Chapel Hill and Hillsborough and between Interstate 85 and 40. It is situated on 165 acres of rolling hardwood forest with a trail system winding around the developed parts of the camp. There are two on site ponds perfect for learning about the water cycle and life cycle of aquatic creatures. The camp has two sports fields available for use as well as basketball and volleyball courts. Our recently renovated playground offers a great place to burn off some excess energy.

Lodging

New Hope Camp and Conference Center has lodging for groups up to 164 people. Our four rustic bunkhouses are favorites of school groups. Magnolia, Holly, Cedar and Pine each accommodate between 22 and 26 people with a middle room for chaperones. A bath house is conveniently located for easy access to showers and restrooms. The Back pavilion offers a kitchen with sink, stove and refrigerator and microwave. One of our large stone fire circles is located in the back field and is perfect for making foil pack dinners and s’mores as well as late night campfire singing.

NHCCC also offers more comfortable lodges and guest houses. Each lodge has bed and bathroom space, and some offer meeting space as well. Please inquire about the rates for these lodges.

Primitive campsites are also available upon request. Camping areas are designated around our pond. Use of the bath house is permitted. Participants must provide their own tents as well as trash clean up.

Pool

The NHCCC pool is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day each year. Groups of 25 at a time may use the pool. NHCCC provides certified lifeguards for a safe swimming environment. Please make your group aware of the pool rules before swimming. Our Olympic sized pool has a two foot depth entry point, a wheel chair lift and a large shallow end. Extra charges apply.

Meals

User groups can take advantage of many meal options. Groups may bring their own food to cook or arrange for their own outside caterer to deliver food to any facility on camp. (Groups using cabins and the back pavilion should have their meals in the back pavilion. No food is allowed in the cabins.) A grocery list is provided for easy meals that school groups can prepare themselves. The NHCCC office will be happy to coordinate your meals with our caterer “Kelsey’s at Occoneeechee”. A list of local caterers is available in the camp office if you prefer to coordinate your own meals.
